ipcm® – International Paint&Coating Magazine, an international publication specialising in the surface treatment sector, featured CM Automazione in its Highlight of the month, interviewing Stefano Crotti, CEO of our company, to share the story behind the evolution of a company that is becoming an increasingly prominent player in the field of advanced industrial handling systems. Below are the key takeaways from the interview.
Steady growth and a clear vision
Over the past four years, CM Automazione has undergone significant expansion, successfully doubling its turnover. This remarkable achievement is the result of a well-defined, forward-looking strategy built on several key pillars: strong specialisation in conveyor systems, the enhancement of technical services, and ongoing investment in design and support. All of this has been underpinned by gradual, structured development that has enabled the company to grow without compromising its stability.
The company’s growth is also evident in its infrastructure: as Crotti explained, CM Automazione has moved from a 300 m2 rented facility to its current premises, which now exceed 2,000 m2. The company is currently renovating its offices to visually reflect its evolution and renewed identity.
Over 25 years in the conveyor systems industry
Founded in 1999 by Stefano Crotti and Giuseppe Moscatelli, CM Automazione was established with a clear mission: to provide highly automated internal handling solutions for industrial plants, with a particular focus on the coating industry.
Over the years, the company has significantly expanded its offering, designing and manufacturing Power & Free systems and custom conveyors for complex requirements, while also performing revamping operations and delivering attentive customer support.
CM Automazione today: an advanced and comprehensive company
According to Crotti, CM Automazione is now a constantly evolving company, capable of meeting new challenges and confidently pursuing increasingly ambitious goals. The organisation has developed a solid and efficient structure: it relies on a team of around twenty people, including an in-house technical and software department that independently manages project development, a highly specialised production unit, and a fully stocked warehouse that ensures the prompt delivery of spare parts.
The company also features a two-rail line for testing and practical demonstrations, as well as a dedicated team responsible for system commissioning and technical support, an area that has become one of CM Automazione’s key strengths. “Our greatest strength today is our technical service, which used to be one of our weaknesses. Now, we are fully equipped to meet our customers’ needs in every respect,” Crotti proudly states.
From suppliers to strategic partners
Historically a supplier to Italian system integrators, CM Automazione is now increasingly engaged with both end customers and European system integrators. This shift has been driven by market demand, particularly for two-rail systems, which are often selected directly by users as part of larger investment projects. “Our goal is to strike a balance: working with system integrators and end customers alike, without losing focus on quality and transparency,” Crotti explains.
What sets CM Automazione conveyors apart?
Flexibility and adaptability
One of the standout features of CM Automazione’s monorail systems is their exceptional ability to adapt to diverse production environments and specific requirements. Thanks to the use of chains with special pitches and non-standard dimensions, these systems offer versatility well above the average. Moreover, the company can intervene on existing installations with revamping operations, extending their service life and enhancing performance. Every project is custom-designed, with technical solutions tailored to meet unique production demands.
High-performance Power & Free systems
Power & Free two-rail systems also represent a technological benchmark in industrial automation. CM Automazione’s solutions are distinguished by advanced technical features, such as the ability to achieve tight-radius curves, especially valuable in confined spaces, and by the high robustness and reliability of the entire system. The offering is complemented by comprehensive technical proposals and a high value-added support service that accompanies customers throughout every stage of their project.
International expansion and new objectives
After years of robust internal growth, CM Automazione is now setting its sights on the European market. Its confirmed participation in PaintExpo 2026, the leading trade fair for industrial painting, marks the start of a new chapter: “We want to build partnerships with European customers. Today, we have solid foundations and a structure ready to seize new market opportunities.”
Conveyors for internal logistics
Beyond painting, CM Automazione is exploring new applications for its conveyors in internal logistics, a well-established trend in Northern Europe that the company aims to expand in Italy and Southern European countries. “A well-designed conveyor system can optimise the entire production flow, not just the finishing phase,” Crotti stated.
Quality, planning and openness to the future
What our CEO Stefano Crotti sought to convey is the portrait of a solid company with a strong identity and a clear strategic vision. CM Automazione will continue to invest in technology, design and service, keeping the customer at the centre and aiming to strengthen its national and international presence in the industrial conveyor sector.
